The Bucaramanga FCV International Half Marathon is set to celebrate its  22nd edition, solidifying its place as one of Colombia’s most iconic and challenging running events. Since its inception in 2003, this sporting event has brought together more than 54,000 runners in each edition,  including elite athletes and passionate amateur runners alike; competition that will take place on October 12, 2025.

Organized by the Fundación Cardiovascular de Colombia (FCV) and the Hospital  Internacional de Colombia, which is among the Top 10 best hospitals in  Latin America, according to the Latam Best Hospitals Ranking by Latam  Business Conference (LBC). The institution has two hospital locations in  Santander; its commitment is to provide excellent care in more than 60 specialties to ensure comprehensive service.

This race promotes sports and healthy lifestyles and offers a unique tourism experience in Bucaramanga, known as “La Ciudad Bonita” (The Beautiful City). Here, running merges with adventure sports and the rich cultural heritage of the Santander region.

A race that challenges the best

Since its first edition, the Bucaramanga FCV Half Marathon has become a benchmark event in Colombia’s running scene. Its impeccable organization and demanding elevation profile have made it an actual test for local and international athletes.

What began as a regional event has become a must-attend race on the national sports calendar. Unlike other cities, Bucaramanga offers a unique challenge, with a course full of constant climbs and descents that push runners’ abilities to the limit, even as they strive for personal bests.

The route passes through some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including main avenues, parks, and residential areas. Sections require endurance and smart pacing to avoid losing momentum. Preparation for this race is physical and mental, as the combination of temperature, humidity, and altitude adds an extra layer of difficulty.

Crossing the finish line is a symbol of personal triumph. Each kilometer represents a challenge and an opportunity to enjoy enthusiastic support from spectators, who cheer on the runners along the course and create a festive and motivating atmosphere.

Bucaramanga: a must-run destination on your race calendar

For runners seeking a demanding, vibrant race set in an unforgettable destination, the Bucaramanga FCV International Half Marathon is an unmissable event. In its 22nd edition, runners worldwide will take on the 21K course in the heart of Colombia — an event that blends sports, culture, and tourism.

The route, recognized by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), the Colombian Athletics Federation, and the Santander Athletics League, will have as its starting and finishing point Parque Turbay, located on Carrera 27

The race will take place on Sunday, October 12, welcoming over 54,000  participants ready to push their limits in the 5K, 10.5K, and 21K distances.  To register, participants can visit mmb.fcv.org and complete their payment to secure their spot and compete for the attractive prizes this year — all while supporting the event’s ongoing mission to change lives through sport.
