The 2025 Rotterdam Marathon took place this Sunday, April 13, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, bringing together more than 17,000 runners over the main distance. The race, renowned for its flat, fast course, once again offered ideal conditions for fast times, with cool temperatures and little wind—factors that typically attract the world’s elite in pursuit of personal bests.
Starting and finishing on the traditional Coolsingel , the route took runners through iconic areas of the city such as the Erasmusbrug bridge and its modern harbor districts. The event is part of the World Athletics Label Road Races circuit and holds the men’s record of 2:03:36 set by Belgian Bashir Abdi since 2021 , and the women’s record of 2:18:58 set by Ethiopian Tiki Gelana since 2012 .
Men’s results

Although he didn’t break the course record, he overtook a strong field of Ethiopians in the final stretch of the race.
Chala Regasa and Chimdessa Debele , both from Ethiopia , completed the podium with times of 2:05:07 and 2:05:26 , respectively. They all remained in the group until kilometer 30, when Kamworor accelerated the pace.
There were no notable performances by Latin American or Spanish athletes in the men’s top 10.
