he TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2025 took place on Sunday, October 19, 2025, starting and finishing at the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium , on a cool, windless day, ideal for chasing fast times. The route, renowned for its flat profile, crossed Vondelpark, the Amstel River, and the Rijksmuseum. This year’s edition was a special one as it commemorated the 49th anniversary of the event, one of World Athletics ‘ Platinum-label marathons .

Kenyan Geoffrey Toroitich Kipchumba , 25, won convincingly in the Dutch capital by stopping the clock at 2:03:31 , improving the course record that had been in place since 2021 by eight seconds. His victory represents a new course record (CR) and also his personal best (PB) .
Defending champion, Ethiopian Tsegaye Getachew , was unable to repeat his triumph and finished second, while his compatriot Getaneh Molla completed the podium with just one second difference.
In the Dutch national championship, 39-year-old Khalid Choukoud was crowned Dutch champion again with a time of 2:08:00 , earning his fourth national title (after 2016, 2021, and 2022). Second was Gianluca Assorgia (2:12:47, PB) and third was Stan Niesten (2:13:40).

Ethiopia’s Aynalem Desta , 21, was the standout performer on the women’s day, winning in 2:17:36 , a time that significantly improved her personal best. Her compatriots Bertukan Welde (2:17:56, PB) and Mekides Shimeles (2:19:56, in his debut over the distance) completed an all-Ethiopian podium , confirming the African country’s dominance in this edition.
Among the local runners, the best Dutchwoman was Anne Luijten , who took the national title with 2:28:27 , followed by Jill Holterman and Mikky Keetels .
