We sincerely appreciate your enthusiasm and interest in participating in the 2025 Sydney Marathon! This race will occur at The Sydney Marathon on Sunday, 31 August 2025.
Due to unprecedented demand to be part of the TCS Sydney Marathon 2025, presented by ASICS, and in conjunction with Candidacy Club members who are already guaranteed a place in one of the subsequent three events (2025, 2026, or 2027), two draws are being organized for the TCS Sydney Marathon 2025:

- General Sweepstakes
If you completed the TCS Sydney Marathon during the Majors bid period in either 2022, 2023, or 2024, you will receive a notification on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, about the following steps to register.
If not, we invite you to register for the general draw, details of which will be available in early December 2024.
There is a limit of one lottery or sweepstakes entry per person.
How does the ballot work?
A running a ballot system for the first time to ensure fair and transparent entry for this high-demand event.
Here’s what you need to know:
Ballot Applications Open
● The General Ballot will run from 10:00 AM AEDST on 10 December to 11:59 PM AEDST on 30 December.
● This is not a first-come, first-served system—every application is equally considered in a random draw. So, if you encounter a wait when trying to register, just come back a little later.
Results Announced
● Successful applicants will be notified, and your credit card will charged the race entry fee between 8-9 January 2025, with a confirmation email to follow. Please ensure the email address entered is correct before submitting your application.
● Unsuccessful applicants will receive information between 8-9 January 2025 with advice on alternative ways to secure a spot, including our Travel and Charity Programs.
What to Expect
We are committed to making the process seamless and fair for all runners. Remember, there is no preference whether you enter the ballot on day one or the last day. So, if you encounter a wait, just come back later. We encourage runners to be patient, understand the key dates, and reach out if they have not heard anything after 10 January 2025.
Please note that no correspondence will be provided regarding the status of your Ballot application from the moment the Ballot opens until all draws have closed and applicants have been notified of their acceptance status. The outcome of the Ballot draw is final.
There will still be opportunities for those who are unsuccessful in participating through our Travel or Charity Programs.
What is the registration fee?
During the draw entry process for the Sydney Marathon 2025, you will be asked to enter your payment card details. The card must have an expiration date of at least six months and a minimum available balance of AUD 250. This ensures that registration funds can be successfully deducted if you are selected.
Remember that you will only be charged if selected in the drawing. No funds will be deducted from your card if you are not chosen.
Please note that some countries may require a tourist visa from foreign runners.

- Check the International Operators List: Visit the official website of the TCS Sydney Marathon to see the list of authorized operators. Only official operators have access to guaranteed slots.
- Select a Package: Operators often offer different travel packages that include registration. Choose the one that best suits your needs regarding accommodation, transportation, and other services.
- Confirm your Reservation and Registration: By contracting the package, the operator will take care of your registration for the marathon. This assures you a place without having to go through the draw.
- Check the Requirements and Conditions: Some operators may have specific requirements, such as payment deadlines or cancellation policies, so check them in detail.
