How to register for the Tokyo Marathon
All runners must apply through the official website:
https://www.marathon.tokyo/en/participants/
Only credit cards and approved digital payments are accepted. No physical receipts will be issued. Unpaid entries will be canceled after the payment deadline.
Participation through official travel agencies
International runners may also secure their spot through officially approved travel agencies, which are part of the event’s authorized tour operator program. These agencies offer guaranteed entry packages, including accommodation and logistical support. This is a popular alternative for those who wish to avoid the general lottery and enjoy added convenience.
The list of approved agencies and package details will be available soon on the marathon’s official website.
Entry via the Charity Runner Program
The Tokyo Marathon 2026 also offers a guaranteed entry option for runners who wish to support charitable causes. This is managed under the RUN with HEART initiative, which involves 37 certified organizations and 39 charity programs.
Application process:
- Visit the official RUN with HEART website
- Select the charity organization you want to support
- Complete the donation application through the online system
Important dates:
- Donation application period: June 24 (Tue) at 11:00 a.m. to July 9 (Wed), 2025 at 5:00 p.m. (JST)
- Selection results announcement: July 15–18, 2025
- Payment and entry finalization: July 15 – August 14, 2025
Selected runners will receive instructions to complete their registration. The suggested minimum donation is 100,000 yen, in addition to the standard race entry fee. Charity runners do not enter a lottery—their place is secured once the donation is confirmed and the application is approved.
