The Miami Marathon and Half Marathon offer scenic and primarily flat courses, ideal for both seasoned runners and beginners. It is considered one of the best events for Latinos in the United States, attracting many foreign runners, especially from Latin America.
Miami Marathon Course (42.195 km)
Course Description: The race begins on Biscayne Boulevard, next to the Miami-Dade Arena. Runners head east on the MacArthur Causeway, passing cruise ships at the Port of Miami, and arrive at South Beach. They then head north along Ocean Drive, traverse Miami Beach, and return via the Venetian Causeway to the mainland. From there, the course moves south through Brickell’s financial district, enters Coconut Grove, extends along the Rickenbacker Causeway to Key Biscayne, and returns via Brickell and downtown Miami. Participants finish by heading north along Bayfront Park, four blocks south of the starting point (Biscayne & E. Flagler Street).

Notable Bridges:
- MacArthur Causeway: About a quarter-mile from the start, it’s the highest bridge, reaching 9 meters above sea level, connecting the mainland to Watson Island.
- Bridge to Miami Beach: At 2.5 miles, a gentler incline connects to Miami Beach island.
- Venetian Causeway: Between miles 8 and 11, includes a slight incline near its end when returning to the mainland.
- South Miami Avenue Bridge: At miles 13.2 and 25.5, a short, gradual incline crosses this bridge.
Miami Half Marathon Course (21.097 km)
Course Description: This route shares approximately 20.8 km of the marathon. After returning to the mainland via the Venetian Causeway, half-marathon participants head directly to the finish line at Bayfront Park, skipping the Brickell, Coconut Grove, and Rickenbacker Causeway sections. As in the full marathon, runners finish by heading north along Bayfront Park, four blocks south of the starting point (Biscayne & E. Flagler Street).

Average January Weather in Miami
Weather plays a crucial role in the Miami and Half Marathon due to South Florida’s warm and humid climate. The event typically occurs in late January, one of the region’s most incredible times. However, conditions can still vary.
- Average Low Temperature: 15-18 °C (59-64 °F).
- Average High Temperature: 23-26 °C (73-79 °F).
- Relative Humidity: High, usually between 70% and 85%.
- Rain Probability: Low, though light or intermittent showers can occur.
The race starts early, around 6:00 a.m. when temperatures range from 15 to 20 °C (59-68 °F). When runners finish (9:00-11:00 a.m.), temperatures may rise to 23-26 °C (73-79 °F), combined with high humidity, increasing physical exertion.
